Rob Simmelkjaer became Chief Executive Officer of NYRR in December 2022.
At NYRR, running is a team sport: Everything that we do as an organization represents the efforts of many talented, passionate, and dedicated individuals and groups pulling together to advance our mission to help and inspire people through running. Our staff is supported by thousands of volunteers, multiple New York City agencies, our sponsors and partners, and our board of directors.
Rob Simmelkjaer became Chief Executive Officer of NYRR in December 2022.
Christine Burke became NYRR’s Chief Commercial Officer in November 2024; her previous role was Senior Vice President of Strategic Partnerships and Runner Products.
Jeanmarie Cooney joined NYRR in March 2020.
Erica Edwards-O'Neal is a strategic diversity, equity, and social responsibility professional and lawyer.
Alexander Egan joined NYRR in July 2024 as its Senior Vice President of Philanthropy and became the Chief Development Officer in November 2024. In this role he partners with the senior leadership team and the Board of Directors to develop a compelling philanthropic vision and to spearhead transformational fundraising initiatives that position NYRR for unprecedented growth and impact.
Crystal Howard joined NYRR in September 2023 as its Senior Vice President of Public Affairs and became its Chief Communications and Community Officer in November 2024.
Ted Metellus became NYRR’s Chief Event Production Officer and Race Director in November 2024; previously, he was the Senior Vice President of Events and Race Director of the TCS New York City Marathon in May 2022.
Juliette Morris became NYRR’s Chief Marketing and Digital Officer in January 2025.
Samira Shah is the Chief Legal Officer at New York Road Runners.
Richard Kahn joined NYRR as the Senior Vice President of Technology in September 2024.
Maria Note joined New York Road Runners in May 2012 as Vice President of Human Resources; her responsibilities have grown to include overseeing Office Operations.
Matthew Forys joined NYRR in June 2013.
German Martinez has worked on behalf of NYRR’s youth events and community programing for 22 years.
Julie Schweigert joined NYRR in March 2017 as Director, Strategic Partnerships, and became Vice President, Strategic Partnerships and Business Development, in October 2024.

The Medical Advisory Council's role is to advance NYRR’s vision to build healthier lives and stronger communities through the transformative power of running by providing advice and guidance to NYRR on medical and health issues related to NYRR’s programs and events and the sport of running.
