Run to honor Ted Corbitt, the father of American long-distance running, on Saturday, December 5!

Race Details

Join us on Saturday, December 5 at the 18th annual NYRR Ted Corbitt 15K as we honor the life and legacy of Ted Corbitt (1919–2007). Corbitt was the first president of New York Road Runners, the first African American to compete in the Olympic marathon, and an ultramarathon pioneer who ran more than 170,000 miles in his lifetime. Corbitt’s legacy goes beyond his own personal running achievements and includes setting standards for course measurement and age-group competition. Learn more about Ted Corbitt’s life and impact on our blog. Finishers will receive a commemorative medal in his honor, and all participants will receive a New Balance long-sleeve tri-blend T-shirt.

Member-Only Standby List

The Member-Only Standby List is a perk for NYRR members who would like to participate in an NYRR race if entries become available after registration has closed. Members can easily join a race's standby list for free, however there's no guarantee that you will get an entry to the race while on a standby list. Should entries for closed races become available, individuals on the standby list will be invited to register for the race on a first-come, first-served basis.
