We know there will be days when you’re tired or busy, when the weather isn’t ideal, or when you just don’t feel like working out. But we hope that with these excuse-busters, you’ll feel inspired to keep moving through 2022 and beyond.
I don’t have the time. Our days are so busy and oftentimes, we think we can’t fit in a workout. But if you take a serious look at your schedule, you’d be surprised at
how much time you do have for a quick runfirst thing in the morning or right after work—even for just 15 or 20 minutes.
It’s too hard. Running and walking are accessible activities that most people can do relatively easily without having to join a gym or sign up for an exercise class. And if you’ve registered for a spring race and want a structured program to keep you motivated, the NYRR Coaching Lab by Runcoach virtual training program gives you access to personalized training on your own time from anywhere in the world.
It’s tedious. Exercising doesn’t have to be a slog! Find an activity you enjoy whether that’s a varied exercise program to keep things interesting or a workout routine that keeps you focused on a specific goa l. The first few weeks may feel challenging, but once you get into a groove you'll be happy you did it!
I don’t have anyone to work out with. There’s no better way to stay motivated than having a friend, relative, neighbor, or colleague join you on your journey. But if you don’t have anyone to get moving with, consider participating in one of our Open Runfree, weekly community-led runs and walks to neighborhood parks across all five boroughs. Or you can sign up for NYRR Group Training geared towardNYC local runners of all levels for coaching and camaraderie. You can also connect with fellow runners virtually for racing tips and support by joining the NYRR Virtual Racing Facebook group for inspiration and motivation.
Wherever or whenever you choose to workout, your fitness journey starts with taking that first step. You’ll be surprised at how easy and how fun it can be!
