NEW: Upgrade from the Free Tier to the Premium Tier
Runners can now upgrade from the Free Tier to the Premium Tier and earn a Virtual 6 credit through their user dashboard at any time between now and the end of the event. Here are the steps:
- Sign into your dashboard.
- Go to Your Events, and view the virtual race registration you wish to upgrade.
- Under Registration Options, select Switch Categories.
- Select the Premium Tier and pay the registration fee. You may not downgrade once you have registered for the Premium Tier, all entry fees are non-refundable.

Bib pickup will close 10 minutes after the start time of the race. Runners arriving to pick up their bib after that time will not be issued a bib and will not receive 9+1 credit for the race.
Bag Check
Check back closer to the race for more details.
Planning to check a bag on race morning? While we will continue to have clear plastic bags available at number pickup, we encourage you to use your own clear reusable plastic bag, no larger than 17" wide x 20" high x 7" deep, with the tag affixed. Only clear bags may be checked at bag check; we are unable to check opaque bags of any size.
NYRR is not responsible for lost, damaged, or stolen bags or items from bags checked at NYRR bag check.

Notes on Registration
Runners must complete the full 5-kilometer distance in a single run activity during one calendar day and upload the activity to Strava. Please note: Your activity must be a GPS upload. Manual uploads, treadmill runs, and activities where friends have “tagged” you are not supported and will not be counted toward your result.
Runners who previously had or currently have a Strava subscription cannot redeem a 30-day trial. Runners cannot redeem a Strava subscription trial more than once on their account. Learn more on Strava’s website.
NYRR Virtual 6 Program
While general entry is free, you can also purchase entry for this race to begin or to continue your journey to earning guaranteed, non-complimentary entry to the 2027 RBC Brooklyn Half as part of the NYRR Virtual 6 program. Read more about the NYRR Virtual 6 program.
TCS New York City Marathon 9+1 Program
NYRR’s 2026 9+1 Program offers members guaranteed, non-complimentary entry to the 2027 TCS New York City Marathon. You can complete the program in 2026 by registering for and completing NYRR in-person and virtual 9+1 qualifying races, volunteering at one +1 qualifying event and ensuring that your NYRR membership is active as of December 31, 2026.
This virtual race is one of three designated virtual races that is a 9+1 program qualifier. To earn a 9+1 credit for this virtual race, select the “Premium” tier during registration.
