First Annual HSS NYRR Runner Health Symposium
In the lead-up to the 2025 TCS New York City Marathon, health and medical experts from
Hospital for Special Surgery and New York Road Runners gathered for the first annual HSS NYRR Runner Health Symposium.
The goal of the daylong event was to educate the running and medical communities on the best ways for runners to stay healthy. Throughout the day, lectures and panels focused on topics that affect all runners—not just those breaking finish-line tapes—and the medical and health experts that keep them safe, healthy, informed, and performing their best.
Topics included heart health, training techniques, running form and mechanics, nutrition, sleep, maximizing performance, female runners, masters running, preparing for emergencies, and more.
Check out a playlist of the lectures and panels at the link below and joins for
the second annual symposium—it’s set to take place in New York City on October 3, 2026 and will be open to the public both in-person and virtually.
