Marathon runners on the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge

50 Years. 5 Boroughs. 50 Winners.

The sweepstakes celebrates the 50 years that the New York City Marathon’s iconic 26.2-mile course has traveled through all five boroughs—starting in Staten Island, traversing the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge, and crossing through Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan, and the Bronx—before ending at the famed Central Park finish line.

To honor this milestone, New York Road Runners is giving U.S. runners the chance to win the ultimate marathon experience. Fifty lucky people will win entries into the 2026 TCS New York City Marathon. The sweepstakes is open until Sunday, November 9 at 11:59 p.m. ET. The winners will be randomly selected on Wednesday, November 12.

Dave Alsobrooks from Durham, North Carolina

"The sweepstakes has given me the chance to complete my fifth marathon at 50 [years old], which makes the experience even more meaningful. I found myself emotional several times during the run. I focused on the faces in the crowd, the energy of the runners, the volunteers, the residents of New York City, and everyone who makes the day what it is. I’m grateful to New York Road Runners for the chance to run the marathon!"

"The weather was perfect, the transportation was well organized from train to the ferry to the buses. The crowd of spectators are amazing, from Brooklyn to the finish line I heard cheering. I was smiling the whole time! While I was running, I kept thinking about a friend of mine who passed unexpectedly a day before the race. I dedicated this run in Bob’s name. Thank you so much NYRR for giving me this opportunity!"

“On the day of the 2024 TCS New York City Marathon, I was on a bus to the Staten Island Ferry with my husband, who was running this marathon for charity. When we boarded the ferry, the energy was electric—almost everyone there was a runner. I had this overwhelming feeling that I needed to be part of it too, not as a spectator but as a runner.”

Karla Espinoza from Richardson, Texas

"The New York Marathon is a unique experience that motivates you to never stop believing in yourself. I thought it was impossible to continue [on the course] but I remembered how much I had wanted to be there and that I couldn't give up. Thank you for this opportunity, New York Road Runners. You made my dream come true!"

Carlos Garcia Lopez from Illinois

“When I found out I won the grand prize entry, I was SO excited. When I wasn’t able get in through the [general drawing], I was looking for other ways to try and make it happen. I entered the sweepstakes on a whim, never expecting anything, and now I am so happy I decided to enter!"
