I started running relatively late, in 2011 during a vacation, at the age of 43. During a training run, the idea came up to run in NYC. I registered in 2012, but sadly the marathon was canceled, so my first New York City Marathon was in 2013.

After the race, I felt the spirit of NYC and I was enthusiastic about the great organization of NYRR. I was searching for a running community and signed up to become a member. Since then, I try to get a starting place for the TCS New York City Marathon every year. The same applies to the United Airlines NYC Half, whose route through Times Square is one of the most beautiful in the world.

It fascinates me to run in different countries, to overcome all borders, and to be a part of each country by running. I am one of many international runners, no matter which country, who celebrate the cohesion of the running community. The fact that I live in another country has not diminished my desire to run in NYRR races.

Running has changed my lifestyle; I have gotten to know my body better and I feel fitter. I love NYC and at NYRR's events I can feel that connection to this running community. This connection was also noticeable in various virtual runs. Through the newsletter you constantly get new information, and you notice this club is alive. I am very happy to be a member.

The 2022 TCS New York City Marathon was my 100th marathon! My 100 marathons took me through all continents where you get to know the world in all its diversity. It was very important for me to finish this anniversary race in NYC. Unfortunately, with an injury to my hamstring, it was my first walkathon. I am looking forward to many more races with NYRR!
