"Take Care of Her While She Takes Care of You": Daniel Romanchuk Sends a Letter of Support to New York City

Dear New York City,

Say what you mean and get to the point quickly – I’ve always liked the NYC communication style.

So, here it is: I miss you, NYC.

I’m a country boy, but there’s something about racing through your streets, watching your people, rolling through Central Park, visiting your museums, and witnessing the ceaseless energy that runs through the city. You’re without equal in the entire world, and it’s devastating to see your streets empty now.

My sister (that's her, above right, with me when we were kids) is a part of you now, too, so every missed visit hurts a little more. We were so close as kids, and that didn’t change after she got married and moved to NYC. The NYC Half and NYC Marathon are special races to me, but I have to admit that a big part of my excitement for them is seeing her and her husband at the finish line. She’s trained as an Emergency Department nurse, and though she was focusing on research over the past half year, she is now scheduled to return to bedside to help with the current crisis. I’m proud of her, but it also scares me. Take care of her, NYC, while she takes care of you.

Love, Daniel
