MILES OF IMPACT AWARD CONTEST PRESENTED BY HOSPITAL FOR SPECIAL SURGERY AND NEW YORK ROAD RUNNERS (“CONTEST”)
OFFICIAL CONTEST RULES
VOID WHERE PROHIBITED BY LAW. ALL FEDERAL, STATE, AND LOCAL LAWS AND REGULATIONS APPLY. By participating, you unconditionally accept and agree to these Official Rules and all decisions by NYRR (“Sponsor”) and HSS (“Presenter”), which are final and binding in all matters related to this contest. Internet access and uploading capabilities required to enter. NO PURCHASE NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN. A PURCHASE WILL NOT INCREASE YOUR CHANCES OF WINNING.
1. ELIGIBILITY: The Award is open only to the following individuals (each, an “Eligible Participant”)
The Contest is a regional contest open to legal residents of New York, New Jersey, Connecticut area that are 18+, and reside within a 75-mile radius of NYRR RUN CENTER, located in Manhattan, New York (the “Area”) (each an “Entrant”).
2. CONTEST PERIOD: The Contest will run from 10:00 a.m. EST. on Monday, April 21, 2025, until 11:59 p.m. EST on Sunday, May 11, 2025.
3. ENTRY: To nominate an eligible individual, nominators must visit the submission page on NYRR’s website and follow the nomination instructions to submit written nominate individuals from their running communities who exemplify the core values provided on the nomination page. Nominations are welcome for runners of all backgrounds, regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, identity, or ability.
A nominee who is selected as a potential winner will be required to submit a waiver/release to use their name, likeness and voice, consent to participate in this contest, and acknowledge these Official Rules.
4. SELECTION OF WINNERS: A panel of HSS and NYRR representatives (Miles of Impact Panel) will carefully review all nominations and select the top five (5) Finalists and one (1) Grand Prize Winner. The Miles of Impact Panel (will evaluate all submissions and select Finalists and a Grand Prize Winner based on the following criteria (“Judging Criteria”).
Miles of Impact Judging Criteria:
1. What the Nominee has done to significantly contribute to and/or impact Nominee’s local running community: 40%;
2. Reasons expressed by Nominator as to why Nominee deserves to receive the Award: 40%; and
3. Articulation/Persuasiveness of the Nomination: 20%.
For the avoidance of doubt, only the applicable Nominees (and not their respective Nominators) will be deemed the winners.
Sponsor and Presenter reserve the right, in their sole discretion, to change these Official Rules at any time for any reason without notice.
5. PRIZES:
Five (5) Finalist Receive:
- A gift bag with NYRR branded merchandise & honorary certificate
- Recognition during Grete’s Great Gallop Festival
One Grand Prize Winner Receives:
- Miles of Impact Award trophy presented by HSS
- One (1) 2025 TCS New York City Marathon complimentary guaranteed entry
- Complimentary NYRR x Runna 1 Year Membership
If Sponsor or Presenter are unable to provide the Winner(s) with their prize(s), Sponsor may elect, in its sole and absolute discretion, to provide Winner(s) with an alternate prize of equal or greater value. If a Winner declines a prize for any reason, the Winner will not receive any substitution or reimbursement of the prize or portion thereof. The prizes are provided as-is with no guarantee. All warranties, whether express or implied, including the warranties of merchantability and fitness for a purpose, are hereby disclaimed by the released parties. All prize details are at Sponsor’s sole discretion. Any costs and expenses associated with prize acceptance and use not specified herein as being provided are Winners’ sole responsibility.
6. NOTIFICATION OF WINNERS AND DELIVERY OF PRIZES: The Five (5) Finalist and One (1) Grand Prize winners will be selected from the nominees on May 30, contacted by June 4, and announced on this page by June 6.
7. USE OF NAME AND LIKENESS: Participation in the Awards constitutes participant’s grant to Sponsor and Presenter (which grant Winner will confirm in writing on request of Sponsor and/or Presenter), the right and permission in perpetuity to print, publish, broadcast, and use, world-wide in any media now known or hereafter developed, including but not limited to the internet and social media, at any time or times, the Winner’s entry, name, portrait, picture, voice, likeness, opinions, and biographical information (including but not limited to hometown and state) for advertising, trade, and promotional purposes (including the announcement of his or her name on television or radio broadcast) without additional consideration, compensation, permission, or notification.
All copyright, trademark, or other intellectual property rights in such use shall be owned by Sponsor and/or Presenter, as applicable, and/or its respective licensors, and each winning participant hereby disclaims and waives any claim to such intellectual property rights.
8. LIMITATIONS OF LIABILITY; GENERAL CONDITIONS:
Sponsor, Presenter, and their respective parents, affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising, fulfillment, marketing, and promotion agencies, and all their respective officers, directors, shareholders, partners, members, principals, employees, agents, contractors or suppliers (collectively, “Released Parties”) are not responsible for:
(a) late, lost, stolen, damaged, garbled, incomplete, mistyped, misaddressed or misdirected entries, emails, mail or communications;
(b) errors (including printing), omissions, interruptions, deletions, defects, or delays in operations or transmission of information, whether arising by way of technical or other failures or malfunctions of computer hardware, software, communications devices;
(c) electronic communications that are undeliverable because of any form of active or passive filtering of any kind, or insufficient space in entrant’s email account to receive email messages or insufficient space on an entrant’s computer; and
(d) errors in the administration of these Awards. Sponsor reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to modify, cancel, terminate, or suspend the Awards should any virus, bug, technical failures, unauthorized human intervention, or other causes beyond Sponsor’s control corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of the Awards. In the event of any such cancellation, termination, or suspension, a notice will be posted and Sponsor in its sole discretion may select Potential Winners among all eligible, nonsuspect entries received prior to such time. Sponsor and/or Presenter reserves the right, in their sole discretion, to disqualify entrants if their misconduct affects the integrity of the Awards or if they engage in any inappropriate or unacceptable behavior in connection with the Awards or in a manner which threatens the reputation of Sponsor and/or Presenter. Released Parties reserve the right to correct clerical or typographical errors in promotional materials.
9. NOMINATOR'S PERSONAL INFORMATION:
By participating in these Awards, you consent to the collection, use and disclosure of your personal information for the purpose of administering these Awards and prize fulfillment. You may also have the opportunity to sign up to receive promotional emails from parties associated with the Awards. Your choice to consent to such emails or to opt out of such emails in future does not impact your chances of winning.
10. PRIVACY : Any personal information that a nominator provides in connection with the Awards shall be used by the Sponsor to administer these Awards, contact nominees.
