Mildred Baker

RESIDENCE: BRONX, N.Y.

When Mildred joined NYRR Striders, a program for older adults, in her late seventies to stay active and healthy, she had no idea the community would transform her life. She ran her first half marathon in 2025 at the United Airlines NYC Half and will now run her first marathon at the age of 80.

What does it mean to be part of the 2026 TCS New York City Marathon Team Inspire?

“Being part of Team Inspire is truly an honor. At 80 years old, I hope my journey inspires people of all ages, especially seniors, to believe it is never too late to set a new goal, challenge yourself, and dream bigger.”
