Sheena LawrickFifty years ago, this course brought all five boroughs together, and that's what this race means to me: a community that carries you through. I can't wait to run up First Avenue past MSK at mile 17 beside Sherie and Laura, with Gus and every retinoblastoma family in our hearts.

Sheena’s son, Gus (4), Sherie’s son, Noah (5 months), and Laura’s daughter, Holly (3), were diagnosed with retinoblastoma, a rare pediatric eye cancer. All three children were treated by the same doctor at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK), and through months of procedures and waiting rooms, their mothers bonded and supported each other through every appointment. Now that all three children have successfully completed their treatment, Sheena, Sherie, and Laura are running the TCS New York City Marathon with Fred’s Team and raising money for MSK.
What are you most excited about for the 2026 TCS New York City Marathon, which is celebrating the 50th anniversary of the iconic 5-boro marathon course?
Sherie BuellI am most excited to feel the energy and pulse of New York City all around me as I run. As a resident New Yorker, I have been a spectator of the marathon for many years, and I can't wait to be on the other side -- running -- for the first time, to hear and feel the crowds and let them propel me through all 5 boroughs to the finish line.

Laura LangI am most excited to experience the electric atmosphere that is the TCS New York City Marathon! This year, I will be running with two friends who are near and dear to my heart and share the same purpose & passion that I do. To be able to share this experience with them is everything!
