RESIDENCE: ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.
At age 14 Kyle was diagnosed with stage IV osteosarcoma, and after he lived with chronic pain for more than a decade, a mountain biking accident led to an above-the-knee amputation. He embraced adaptive sports, representing the United States in international para triathlon competition and winning several medals. He has since helped launch the So Every BODY Can Move campaign, expanding prosthetic insurance coverage in 15 states. Kyle is running the TCS New York City Marathon with NYRR Team for Climate, raising funds to help offset the environmental impact of New York Road Runners events.
What does it mean to be part of the 2026 TCS New York City Marathon Team Inspire?
“Reaching the starting line of my first marathon as an athlete with a disability is a reminder of what can happen when someone is given the access and opportunity to discover what’s possible. Through Team Inspire I’m pursuing a finish line bigger than my own, so people with disabilities today and in the future can reach their own starting lines, discover what’s possible, and see just how far they can go.”
