Griffin Oleynick
RESIDENCE: NEW YORK
The last time Griffin ran a marathon, he was preparing to enter an Italian monastery. After surviving abuse from a monk, he left and worked on his mental health. Running became a tool to rebuild his life. Griffin lost weight, found community through the Prospect Park Track Club, and reconciled with his father after a period of estrangement. He is running the TCS New York City Marathon to celebrate how far he’s come since his last marathon a decade ago.
What does it mean to be part of the 2026 TCS New York City Marathon Team Inspire?
“Running a marathon is a celebration of fitness, and of what makes us human: our frailty, and our need for other people. None of us runs alone—it’s wonderful to be reminded of that as a member of Team Inspire.”
