RESIDENCE: BROOKLYN, N.Y.

Giovanni was born in Manilla, Philippines, and grew up unhoused. As an adult, running and higher education have given him agency and independence, ensuring he never finds himself in that position again. Through running, he has found therapy, confidence, and a community he can rely on.

What does it mean to be part of the 2026 TCS New York City Marathon Team Inspire?

“Being part of Team Inspire means bringing my whole journey to the starting line, not just the miles I get to run, but every challenge I have overcome, every person who believed in me, and every sacrifice my mother made so I could dream beyond survival. I am honored to stand with a team whose stories turn perseverance into possibility and remind others that they, too, can build a big, beautiful life.”
