Dennis Levasseur
RESIDENCE: SALEM, MASS.
On September 11, 2001, Dennis was deployed from his fire station in Salem to New York City following the collapse of the World Trade Center. In honor of the 25th anniversary of 9/11, he will run the TCS New York City Marathon to honor the victims, including the 13 members of Massachusetts Task Force 1 who lost their lives, and whose names are listed on a card that Dennis carries in his pocket during every training run. He is running for the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, which has a goal of raising $1 million for those who continue to make the ultimate sacrifice for the country.
What does it mean to be part of the 2026 TCS New York City Marathon Team Inspire?
“Being selected for Team Inspire is a great honor. It places me among people who have accomplished many great things and gives me the opportunity to share why I am running the TCS New York City Marathon this year. For me, this run is about making sure the tragedies of 9/11, and the lives of those who were lost that day and, in the years, since, are never forgotten. In the days following 9/11, America came together with a shared commitment to never forget. I believe we need to bring that sense of unity back and ensure that future generations understand the significance of what happened.”
