Running Motto

Lawrence started running years ago as a way to keep exercising after shattering his clavicle snowboarding. He was very active training in karate previously but could not continue until the clavicle healed. Since then, he has run multiple marathons and even more half marathons. Lawrence joined NYRR Group Training as a runner several years ago, saw significant improvement in his running, and decided he wanted to give back and coach with NYRR. He is also a triathlete and certified Ironman coach.

What languages do you speak?

How would you describe your coaching style?
My coaching style is part teacher, part cheerleader. I like to learn from the runners what they want to achieve and help them get there. I’m super enthusiastic and very encouraging when I’m training with them.

What is your proudest coaching moment?
I don’t have any one moment, but I’m always happy when runners come back and tell me how well they did after a race. When they feel accomplished, it’s a good feeling for me too.

What is your favorite workout to coach and why?
What is your favorite workout to coach and why? I like increasing ladders. It’s hard and you have to be able to manage your energy levels efficiently. I love seeing the runners come back stronger and faster after that workout.
