How would you describe your coaching style?
I think my coaching style varies depending on the individual or group I am working with. I tend to lean toward a holistic way of coaching and to keep in mind the importance of balance. I work with each person to understand their goals and how running fits into their daily life.
What is your proudest coaching moment?
I definitely cannot name just one. Just being a coach makes me incredibly proud. Especially working with young athletes in high school or younger. I love seeing how running and being a part of this sport and community can help with a child’s social development, self-confidence and self-esteem. Since becoming a mother, I see how running has already made a positive impression on my own children. My son loves coaching with me! He has his own whistle, knows how to work a stopwatch and loves jumping in the sand at the long jump pit. Proud mom and coach moment!
What is your favorite workout to coach and why?
At the track, my favorite is either 800-meter repeats or ladder work. Off the track, I like doing tempo or progression runs. The 800m is just enough to push your limits and then back off before starting again. It's not as "intense" as a 400m but helps to work on those fast twitch muscles and endurance. I like progression runs because it helps me to gage how much an athlete has left in the tank and gives me a good idea of their pace, endurance, and ability.

Where is your favorite place to run in New York City?
I really love running during Summer Streets and running over the Brooklyn Bridge. I also love running up to the Little Red Lighthouse. That's always a fun long run destination.
What is your favorite NYRR race?
I really love the Fred Lebow Half Marathon. I feel like it's always snowing, and the park looks beautiful in the winter. It's a quiet time in the city and a great goal race for keeping yourself accountable over the holidays. And I love the race beanies.
