Run for life.
Running MottoFrancesco became a runner in 2005 when he ran his first marathon in New York at the age of 43. Since then, he never stopped running. He has run multiple marathons, and broke 3 hours when he was 50. Francesco discovered early on that a supportive running community is crucial in forming, motivating, and inspiring runners. Before joining the NYRR coaching team, he led weekly group runs and often volunteered as a pacer. Sharing his knowledge, experience, and passion about running as an NYRR coach is the ultimate way for him to give back.
How would you describe your coaching style?
I believe in a constructive partnership with the athlete, where I help them identify their goals first, and then I provide the positive support and guidance they may need in meeting them.
What is your proudest coaching moment?
Nothing makes me prouder as a coach than a happy runner, looking back after a race, and telling me that the guidance and encouragement they received from me in training have made all the difference during the run.
What is your favorite workout to coach and why?
800-meter repeats are one of the most efficient workouts, because they allow runners to experience an effort level similar to that of a race without putting their body and mind through the stress of a race.
