ADVISORY: Global Running Day World Record Attempt to be Held in New York City

WHAT: The Global Running Day Challenge – a Guinness World Record attempt for “Most People in a Treadmill Relay” – will feature more than 250 participants who run one mile under a 9:41/minute pace. The world-record mark is set at 250 people, with the event expecting to last approximately 33 hours.

WHEN: Tuesday, June 6 – Wednesday, June 7

START TIME: Tuesday, June 6 at 8 a.m.
MEDIA OPEN HOUSE: Wednesday, June 7 from 10 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.
MEB KEFLEZIGHI NYRR DEDICATION: Wednesday, June 7 at 10:30 a.m.
FINISH TIME (APPROXIMATE): Wednesday, June 7 between 5 p.m. – 7 p.m.

WHO: Professional athletes, celebrities and a wide range of runners from New York City’s five boroughs.

  • Meb Keflezighi: 4-time Olympian and NYRR Team for Kids Ambassador racing his 26th and final marathon at the 2017 TCS New York City Marathon
  • Aliphine Tuliamuk: 2017 USATF 25K champion and 2017 NYRR New York Mini 10K runner-up
  • Beverly Ramos: Olympian and Puerto Rican record-holder
  • Tiki Barber: Former New York Giants running back
  • Ben Navarrete: NYRR Strider who has run 125+ marathons and will be racing 2017 TCS New York City Marathon
  • Patricia Lorquet: NYRR Run for the Future alumnae who will be running a relay from San Francisco to NYC and the 2017 TCS New York City Marathon
